Asylum Law

What I can help you with

Advice often helps as early as possible after you receive the decision (Bescheid), ideally before the deadline for court action ends. I inspect your file at the BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees), check the decision and, if there are prospects of success, bring a court action.

My areas of practice in asylum law:

  • Klagen gegen Asylbescheide
  • Anhörung beim BAMF
  • Leistungen im Asylverfahren

What can I help you with?

You can come to me if

you are still in the asylum procedure …

  • … and want to prepare for your asylum interview (Anhörung) at the BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees)
  • … and want a lawyer to accompany you at the interview

the BAMF …

  • … rejects your asylum application
  • … grants you only subsidiary protection or a ban on deportation (Abschiebungsverbot), but not refugee status
  • … wants to revoke or withdraw your protection status

the deadline for court action has already passed …

  • … and you want to have it checked which options under residence law still exist

the Sozialamt (social welfare office) …

  • … refuses a medical treatment during the asylum procedure
  • … reduces or restricts your benefits under the Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz (AsylbLG, Asylum Seekers‘ Benefits Act)

More on this under Social law.

What it costs

I charge my fees under the Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz (RVG, the German law on lawyers‘ fees). In every case, I check whether legal aid for court proceedings (Prozesskostenhilfe) is an option. If a court action or a legal remedy is successful, the authority usually pays the costs.
